WELCOME to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Springfield, Missouri. Our church has been part of the Springfield community since 1899. We are a branch of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, which was founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1879 to, "commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing" (Manual of The Mother Church, 17:10).

Christian Science is a wonderful healing religion that offers a spiritual understanding of God based exclusively on the teachings of the Bible. The Bible is a guidebook for life, and Christ Jesus gave us the highest example of how to love God and love our fellow man; how to help and heal our world.
We would love to have you join with us in learning more about God every week at our Sunday service and Wednesday testimony meeting. Sunday School is available for children and teenagers up to the age of 20. Our church also maintains a Christian Science Reading Room in Springfield for anyone wanting to learn more about Christian Science or seeking a quiet place to study and pray.
Mary Baker Eddy wrote this definition of Church:
CHURCH. "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.
The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick." (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, 583:12–19)
